Obituary for Marilyn Lorraine Kaftanic

Marilyn L. Kaftanic, a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana, passed away on October 5, 2017 at the age of 81. She was surrounded during her last days by her family and friends and shared endless phone calls with those who were not able to be with her and loved her so much. She is survived by her sons Dennis (Teresa) Kaftanic and Tim (Shannon) Kaftanic and daughters Donna Narbut, Pam (Dennis) Phelps, Mary (Tom) Cade and Janice (Scott) Lubbehusen. She leaves a legacy to her 14 grandchildren Heather (Kevin) Cowham, Michele (Matthias) Houdelison, Amanda (Dan) Coleman, Leigha (Andrew) Barrett, Ashley (Will) Figueroa, Stephen Kaftanic, Christian (Yehieli) Kaftanic, Donny Hoover, Mackenzie Kaftanic, Auston Kaftanic, Zach Kaftanic, Kyla Sellers, Grace Wothke and Daniel Block as well as her very beloved seven great-grandchildren Reagan Cowham, Lukas Houdelison, Peyton Houdelison, Kinley Coleman, Evan Barrett, Dexter Coleman and Caleb Barrett. She also leaves to cherish her memory her brother Pastor David (Melodie) Phillips and sisters Barbara Hubbard and Diane (Pastor Greg) DeGrave.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Frank, her mother Mary, her father James, her brother Fred, her sister Carolyn and her beloved granddaughter Michaela Elizabeth.
Marilyn worked for many years with Wirth Furniture and Spiegel catalog stores but her biggest fulfillment in life were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never forgot a birthday and it was her greatest blessing to have spent this summer seeing all seven great grandchildren. She carried with her love of Jesus and prayed daily for her family. She enjoyed game nights and visits with family and friends and was loved by so many. She is happy to be reunited with those who have gone on before her.
