Obituary for Walter William Gembala

Walter W Gembala, age 83, of Cedar Lake , passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Pat Gembala; son Tim (Cheryl) Gembala; daughter Lisa Gembala; grandchildren: Kelsey, Cameron, Kendra, Tiffany, and John; great grandchildren: Kaya and Russell “Ralph” and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter Lori Ann; sisters Irene, Katherine, and Martha; and brothers, Joseph, John, and Andy.
Funeral services will begin with prayers at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John, on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 9:30 am with a funeral mass to follow at Holy Name Church in Cedar Lake at 10 am. Burial, Holy Name Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3-8 pm.
Walt was a member of the US Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 261, the F.O.E. 2529, Griffith Masonic Lodge, and the Orak Shrine of Michigan City. He enjoyed golfing and was a proud Alumni of Purdue University. Walt was a good father, loving husband, and great grandfather
