Walter A Bielat, age 68, of Schererville, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016. He is survived by his three children: Wally (Maggie) Bielat, Marjorie (Paul) DeRolf, and Matthew Bielat; grandchildren Riley and Jacob; and sister Vickie (George) Kendall. He was preceded in death by his wife Marcia Bielat. Funeral services will be held directly at St Michael the Archangel National Catholic Church, 6629 W 133rd Ave, in Cedar Lake, on Monday, September 26, 2016 with visiting from 9 am until the time of mass at 10 am, with Father John Kowalczyk officiating. Burial to follow at the church cemetery in Hammond. Friends may meet with the family at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St John on Sunday, September 25, 2016 from 2:00 - 6:00 pm. Wally was a devoted member of the St Michael the Archangel National Catholic Church, where he served as a longtime Parish Committee Member, in the Men's Club, on the PTO, as a Sunday school teacher, and also a Synod Delegate. He liked to travel and loved spending time with his grandchildren. Wally was quick with his comebacks and would like the ladies of the church to know, "he ate a big lunch, so he doesn't need dinner." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marcia Bielat Music Scholarship fund or the St Michael the Archangel Build a New Beginning fund.'
