Richard Lenart Obituary

Richard A. Lenart, age 70 of Highland passed away peacefully on February 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He left a legacy of love and understanding. His family was his number one priority. He is survived by Virginia his devoted wife of 48 years and their five loving sons, David (Karen) of Seymour IN, James (Cindy) of Barrington IL, Philip of Houston TX, John (Meghan) of Trafford PA, and Paul (Whitney) of Schererville IN. He was the proud and doting grandfather of Clare, Adam, Marie, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Anne, Michael, Rachel, Vivien, Isabelle, Jack and the (late Grace, Benjamin, and Faith). Loving brother of Sandy (Mike) Higgins of Houston TX, brothers-in-law of Joseph (Rita) Dabrowski, Stanley (Theresa) Dabrowski and John (Janet) Dabrowski; and uncle to many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Casimir and Wanda Lenart and brother Casey Allan. Richard began his career in computers at the Sinclair Refinery in East Chicago, IN and eventually took his abilities to co-found Tranzact Systems, a logistics company. He also served in the Illinois National Guard. Richard was a voracious reader, a seasoned world traveler who enjoyed local cuisine, and a passionate golfer happily rangering at Harborside Golf Club in retirement. He was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of Grace in Highland for more than 40 years and a charter third-degree knight of the Knights of Columbus Council #8080, once serving as Grand Knight. Visitation will be on Friday, February 26 at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. St. John IN from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 27 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 3025 Highway Ave. Highland IN at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Edward Moszur with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Richard's burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City IL. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Richard's memory may be directed to the Hospice of the Calumet Area William J. Riley Memorial Residence and Fr. Blaney's Share Foundation.
