Shirley Irene Kerner

     Shirley I. Kerner, 90 of Lowell, IN and Mission TX, formally of Hessville, IN passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019, peacefully at her home.  She is survived by her children, Stephen (Sharon) Kerner, of Shelby, IN. Bryan (Gayle) Kerner of Kendallville, IN and Kimberly (Eddie) Bean of Cedar Lake, IN. Chosen daughter, Jeanette Whitworth and the loves of her life, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Leonard Kerner, Ironworker Local 395, and her brother Tony (Melvin) Gulino, El Camino, CA

Funeral Services will be private and burial at German Methodist Cemetery, Cedar Lake, IN

As a young woman she worked in California as a telephone operator, then moved back to Illinois to help the family and met Leonard who lived in the same apartment complex as her Mom and Step Dad.  After returning from Korea, Leonard and Shirley became parents and she was a stay at home mother. Her warmth and kindest was second to none.  Her house was always open and there was always room at her dinner table.  Her hobbies were ceramics, sewing, crocheting and she was an avid card player.  She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
