Harold Gene Floyd of Hammond, Indiana passed away on February 13, 2019 at the age of 89. He is survived by his beloved wife, Blanche Lorraine (Smith); daughter, Debra Schrock (Floyd); son-in-law, Barry Schrock; son, Harold Dewayne Floyd; son Dennis Floyd; daughter-in-law, Catherine Floyd; daughter, Cheryl Stacy (Floyd); son-in-law, Robert Stacy; daughter, Denise Floyd; son, Darryl Floyd; fourteen grandchildren: Ronald Potchen, Thomas Floyd, Christy Potchen, Eric Schrock, Amie Floyd, Rebekeh Morlock (Schrock), Stephanie Floyd, Bryan Schrock, Kevin Schrock, James Frost, Barrett Schrock, Harold Floyd, Adam Floyd, Anna Tuesburg (Floyd); brother Mormon Floyd; sisters-in-law, Linda Jo Floyd and Mildred Floyd; numerous great-grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Stella (Akin) Floyd; brother, Monroe Floyd; brother, Herman Floyd; brother and sister-in-law, Lois and Lorene Floyd; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Nell and Norman Cook; brother, Willis Edward Floyd; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Floyd; sister and brother-in-law, Dortha Fay and Elvis Bugg; brother, Lee Roy Floyd; sister, Martha Sue Floyd.

Harold was born December 27, 1929 and raised in Clinton, Kentucky. He was married for nearly 67 years to the love of his life, Blanche. They had 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. He passionately loved his family. He ended every conversation with “I love you. And, tell the others that I love them too”. Harold was a hard-working man. He was employed at Republic Steel and retired after 42 years of dedicated service. Harold was a man of faith and a long-standing member of Hessville Baptist Church. There he took on many leadership roles such as trustee, drove and maintained the church buses for many years, and was active until his passing. Harold was blessed with a memory that was sharp as a tack. He was able to remember details of travels and interactions with people down to small details, recalling locations and experiences with ease. His life was marked with many friendships. Everyone loved Harold Gene. He was a skilled mechanic, constantly working on someone’s car or a project. His hobby was the restoration of his most cherished Ford Model A and his John Deere Model B tractor.

Visitation will be from 3:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Av., Highland, Indiana. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the funeral home. Cemetery service will immediately follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, 8178 Cline Av., Crown Point, Indiana.
