Henryk Czyszczon, age 74, of Highland, passed away on Saturday, September 29th, 2018. He was born in Rdzawka, Poland on February 6, 1944 to the late Wladislaw and Zofia Czyszczon. Henryk finished trade school as an electrician and worked for US Gary Steel for 15 years. Later, he worked as a mechanic for United Airlines for 25 years before retiring in 2012. Henryk was married to Elzbieta Michalska for 48 years. He was preceded in death by his brother Tadeusz Czyszczon. Henryk is survived by his children: daughter Agnes (Mark) Nahnsen and Tom (Gail) Czyszczon; and cherished grandchildren Matthew, Alyssa, Daniella, Izabella and Mason. He is also survived by his brothers Stanislaw (Krystyna), Andrzej (Grazyna), Jan, Adam, Wladislaw, Franek (Halina) Czyszczon and sister Ania (Wladislaw) Biernat and many nieces and nephews; special sister-in-law Zofia Anuszkiewicz and many more family residing in Poland and in the US. Henryk was a proud Army veteran serving his country in the Vietnam War. A humble, quiet man, he was strong in his faith, he enjoyed his garden, playing pinochle, traveling, reading, working with his hands and coming up with clever inventions.
Visitation will be 9-11am on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018 at FAGEN-MILLER in Highland on 2828 Highway Avenue. The funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:30am at the Carmelite Monastery in Munster on 1628 Ridge Road. Burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville.
