Anthony "Tony" C. Gatto, age 83, of Dyer, IN passed away on January 26, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sue; children Angela (Rich) Milcarek, Christine Gerrard (Bill Hranicky and son Christian), Tony (Linda) Gatto; grandchildren Noah, Victor, Lucy, and Skylar; and sister Angela (late Richard) Matthews. Tony was preceded in death by his granddaughter Melissa Ruth Gatto.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31, from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John. Cremation to follow.
Because of his training and experience as a journeyman machinist and his education in the field of teaching vocational machine trades, he was able to encourage students to learn machining skills along with strong work ethics that could help them succeed in life. He taught at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, IL, and Crown Point High School in Indiana. Tony was co-founder of Sterling Machine in Cedar Lake, IN. His hobbies included fishing, motorcycle riding, and pinochle. Tony will be greatly missed.
