Arthur Cueller, age 88, of Schererville, passed away Monday, June 3, 2024, he was born May 2, 1936 in the South Deering neighborhood in Chicago. He was beloved husband of 65 years to Mildred Cueller; loving father to Karen (Kevin) La Greco and Theodore; adoring grandfather to 9 grandchildren: Jacki Giglio, Nick Sabich, Lauren (Tony) Sanchez, Brandon La Greco, Danielle (Angel Vargas) La Greco, Brandi (Alex) Costa, Jake (Kristen) Cueller, Autumn (Greg Whalen) Cueller, and Isabel Cueller; and 12 great grandchildren: Lexi, Laci, Miles, Maci, Grey, Jaxx, Lilliana, Luke, Aleksa, Matthew, Cameron, and Olivia. Also surviving are brothers Albert Cueller and Henry (Anita Castaneda) Cueller and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Artie, brothers Frank and Alfred, and sister Loretta.
Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John, on Monday, June 10, 2024 from 2-8 pm with a prayer service at 5 pm. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 am followed by mass at St Michael Church in Schererville at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at St. Michael Church Cemetery.
Art proudly served in the United States Navy and taught for 28 years at George Washington High School on the East Side and Hegewisch area of Chicago.
Throughout his life, Art enjoyed fishing, horseback riding, bicycling, swimming, and football. He was known to be opinionated, intelligent, and had a love for storytelling. Art’s family was the cornerstone of his life. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. His stories, wisdom, and the warmth of his company will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
