Obituary
Ashley Renee Akins, age 35, of Cedar Lake, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022. She is survived by her husband of 15 years, Derek Akins; sons Tristyn, Cole, and Carter; mother Anita (Scott) Mandernach; brothers David (Kendra) Mays Jr. and Walter Mays; sister Madelyn Mays; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father David Mays Sr. and mother in law Deanna Akins.
As per her wishes Ashley will be cremated and a memorial visitation will be held at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 2 pm until the time of Military Honors at 7 pm. A Nurse's Honor Guard Tribute will take place at 6pm.
Ashley was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. She received her Bachelor’s degree on Nursing and was a registered nurse at Cedar Creek Nursing Home in Lowell for 5 years. However, her true passion was her family, as evidenced by the title bestowed upon her by many as a Phenomenal Mother and Wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the family, for her sons, would be appreciated.
