Blanche Lorraine (Smith) Floyd

Blanche Lorraine Floyd (nee Smith) of Hammond, IN, passed away on May 1, 2024 at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Floyd. Blanche is survived by her daughter Debra (Barry) Schrock; son Harold Dewayne Floyd; son Dennis (Catherine) Floyd; daughter Cheryl (Bob) Stacy; daughter Denise Frost and son Darryl Floyd. She had 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Blanche was born and raised in Hammond, IN. She was graduate of Hammond Tech High School. Early on, she worked as a telephone operator. She had been married for nearly 67 years to the love of her life, Harold. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother and the very heart of her family. Blanche was a beacon of unwavering faith and a long-standing member of Hessville Baptist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in her family and her home. She wore many hats in that role, from wife and mother to cook to teacher to nurse to referee to cheerleader to babysitter. She has now traded those hats for a heavenly crown. Despite her busy home life, she found time to enjoy her passions which included cross-stitching, gardening, woodworking, sewing, crafting, game playing, and singing in the church choir.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 6, 2024 at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, IN. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the funeral home. Cemetery service will immediately follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Crown Point.
