Charles Richard Mathews

Charles R. Mathews, age 92, of Dyer, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025. He is survived by his children Frank Mathews, Charles (Greta) Mathews, Nickolette Hart, William (Veronica) Mathews, and Victoria Novak; grandchildren Kristen (Bryan) Vonasek, Andrea Leydet, Danielle Norris, Jessica (Erik) Mullner, Lauren Mathews, Lindsey Norris, and John Novak; 6 great grandchildren; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Betsy” Mathews.

                Funeral services will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 1920 Hart St in Dyer, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 7 pm. Friends may meet with the family from 2 pm until the time of service.

Charlie was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was huge fan of John Wayne and loved all of his movies. He will always be known for his love of sitting with his family and regaling them with one of his many interesting stories.
