Daniel Lee Winchell Jr.

Daniel L. Winchell Jr. age 18, of St. John, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025, after a tragic accident. He is survived by his parents Daniel and Melanie Winchell; sister Brooklyn; brother Drew; grandparents Melinda “Sue” and John Rosaschi, Dawn Winchell, Don and Rita Winchell; and great grandma Betty Winchell. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles Melissa (Frank) Mikolajczyk who were also his godparents, Jason (Millie) Legg, Donnie Winchell, Dionne Winchell, David (Terri) Winchell; and numerous cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 from 2-8 pm with prayer service and eulogy at 2 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 26, 2025 directly at St. Michael Church in Schererville, with visiting from 9:30 am until the time of mass at 10:30 am. Burial Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Crown Point.

Danny attended Andrean High School and graduated from Lake Central in 2025. He will be remembered as a man whose big heart and infectious smile brought warmth to countless lives.  He lived as an adventurous, free spirit, embracing every moment with passion.  A man of integrity, he always stood up for everything he believed in and everyone he cared about.  Coupled with his great sense of humor, he leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.  He proudly worked on becoming an electrician with IBEW Local Union 697.  In his spare time, his hands were rarely still, often found working meticulously on his beloved vehicles.  Above all else, he was devoted to his family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family for the education fund of Danny’s favorite person on earth, his little brother.
