Dolores T (Yager) Peters

Dolores Teresa Peters (Yager) age 87 of Highland, Indiana passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She raised five wonderful sons who along with their wives will greatly miss her presence: James (Karen), the late John (Susan), Joseph (Cheryl), Lawrence (Sharon), and Kenneth (Sherrie) Peters. She is survived by her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Andrea (late Donald) Yager, Joseph (late Evelyn) Darmon, Arlene (late Bill) Semon, Betty (late Jack) Cloutier, and Jerry and Pam Piskorowski. She was also blessed with 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with one more on the way, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Dolores was preceded in death by her dear husband Peter, her loving son John, and her precious grandson Mark Aurel.

Dolores was a long-time parishioner of Our Lady of Grace Parish in Highland, Indiana, where she attended daily Mass faithfully and was a sacristan for many years along with being a religious education teacher. She was also a 3rd Order Carmelite and a leader in local Catholic Charismatic prayer groups. She really enjoyed music, had a beautiful singing voice, and liked to dance. She was happiest when she could be in church praying the rosary and when she could laugh and have fun with her family. 

We would like to thank all of those who were caregivers to Dolores in any way along these final months of her earthly journey, especially in her final days at The William J. Riley Memorial Residence: Hospice of Calumet Area.

Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home 2828 Highway Ave, Highland, IN on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 4 – 8 pm with a prayer service at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will begin with prayers on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the funeral home at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Grace Church at 10:30 am. Burial to follow at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond.
