Donald A. Geffert

Donald A. Geffert, age 98, of Schererville, IN, formerly of Highland, passed away on June 16, 2025.  He is survived by his grandchildren Nicole Renee (Chris), Victoria Marie (RJ), and Kyle Joseph (Brooke); and great grandsons Jesse "Michael", Lukas Joseph, Connor, and Patrick.  Also, brother Ray, and sisters Dorothy and Dolores.  Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores "Dee", and brothers John, Joe, and Richard.

Don was born May 8, 1927 to John and Veronica (Durick) Geffert in Whiting.  He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist grade school and George Rogers Clark high school, 1945.  He attended St. Joseph College.  He served his country as a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII, and was employed by Standard Oil Co. and Sears, Roebuck, & Co.

Don had a beautiful tenor voice and sang with the Torchlighters as well as the role of Frederick in the Marian Theatre Guild's production of "Pirates of Penzance" where he and Dolores met.  He was a past Treasurer of the Czech Slovak American Club in Sun City West, AZ.  He enjoyed oil painting, ethnic cooking, gardening, travels, dancing, and the loving grandchildren.  He was a member of First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, Branch 81, and the American Legion Post 330.  Don was a member of St. Maria Goretti in Dyer.

All services arranged through Fagen-Miller Funeral Home will be private.

Don is now dancing with Dee in heaven.
