Edward Frank Sobczak, age 93, of St. John, Indiana, passed away on November 29, 2021, at Hospice of the Calumet Area William J. Riley Memorial Residence. Edward was born in Calumet City, Illinois, son of the late John and Mary Sobczak. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Cecilia E. Sobczak; sister Sophie (late Casey) Ides; sister Stella (late Edward) Holzman; brother Theodore (late Helen) Sobczak; Sister Genevieve (late Matt) Wrona and Sister Lillian (late Clarence) Etrych.
Edward is survived by his brother John (late Sharon) Sobczak; sister Lorraine (late Jack) Pawlowski; and several family members and friends.
Edward was a failed golfer who broke all his clubs but luckily fell in love with his wife Cecilia and fishing. Pelican Lake in Minnesota was his favorite fishing spot. Edward was also a Korean War veteran and an Inland Steel Company retired electrician.
Visitation is Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave, St. John, Indiana. Visitation is from 12-4pm ending with a prayer service at 4pm.
Edward’s family is eternally grateful to the entire staff of Hospice of the Calumet Area for the kindness, compassion and skilled care that was provided during a difficult time.
