Eric George Skertich, 45, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on December 29, 2023, after he bravely fought almost a year’s battle with cancer. Eric is survived by his fiancé Amber Hough; father Terry (Jan) Skertich; sisters Nicole (Dennis) Horan and Robyn (Tony) Bulanda; daughter Mia Skertich; nieces Chelsea, Maddy, Emily, Elise, and Rose; nephew John; his two fur babies Sadie and Chloe, aka Sweet Pea; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceding Eric in death was his mother Judy Ywanow, niece Taylor, and nephew Kyle.
Eric grew up in Crown Point, IN and attended Lake Central High School (’96). After graduating, he went on to work in sales and ultimately followed his passion for painting by running his own business, Skertich Paints. Eric was a member of the Highland Elks 981. Eric’s greatest passions were music and golf. He had a natural born amazing talent as a drummer. Eric was a member of his band, Krooked Minds, alongside his two long-time best friends. He was a true Rockstar! Eric’s greatest pastime were days spent on the golf course with his dad.
Eric was a fun-loving jokester and was always out to make you laugh. If he didn’t have you laughing until you cried, he at least made you smile. He knew how to light up a room and will be deeply missed by all who crossed his path.
There will be a celebration of life for Eric on March 3, 2024 from 1pm - 5pm at the Scherwood Club, 600 E Joliet St in Schererville, IN. Burial will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in a private service.
