Helen T. Kalata

Helen T. Kalata (Barszcz), 66, of Dyer, IN passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022, with her family at her side.  She was born on August 16, 1955 in Germany to Jozef and Genowefa (Piotrowski) Barszcz.
Helen leaves behind two children; her daughter Kim (Jim) Yurkanin and grandson Jayce and her son David (Jaime) Zelasko and grandchildren Gracie, Max, and Maggie.  Helen leaves behind her siblings: Theresa (late Ryszard) Czachor, Sophie Zajak, Barbara (Randy) Wojcik, Stanley Barszcz, and Mary Barszcz and many nieces and nephews that she absolutely loved and adored.  Helen also leaves behind her late husband's children, grandchildren, and great grandchild.  Helen is preceded in death by her husband Robert Kalata and her parents.
Helen's life revolved around her four grandchildren.  She spent many days/nights at band concerts, hockey games, recitals and any other activities her grandchildren were involved in.  Helen was an avid gardener and planter.  She enjoyed growing her own vegetables.and planting pretty flowers.  She loved to travel and visit many restaurants that she would watch on TV.  She loved camping with her family.  Most of all, she really enjoyed going to the casino.  She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, stepchildren, step grandchildren, and step great grandchild. 
Following cremation at Fagen Miller will be a private service.
