James Andrew Kuyper, age 74, of Schererville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2023, at home. He is survived by his wife, Jami, daughters: Leigh Kuyper, Gretchen Kuyper, Nicole (Terry) Harrison, and son: Jonathon (Jen) Kuyper; Grandchildren: Lilly, Grace, Tyler, Kaley, Maya, Mackenzie, Destiny, and Elijah. Brothers: Michael and Kevin, Sisters: Carol, Judy, Marge, Sue, and Becky. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Gertrude Kuyper.
Jim was a wonderful husband, father, and papa. He began his career as a registered nurse (specializing in surgery). He went on to build and manage surgery centers: Illiana Surgery Center (Munster) and Southwest Surgery Center (Mokena).
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and especially anytime spent with his grandchildren. He served during the Vietnam war, as a corporal in the Marines, from 1/9/68 to 10/21/70. He will be greatly missed by family and friends, as he touched our lives in so many ways.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 10th, 2023, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Fagen- Miller Funeral Home in St. John, IN.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 11th, 2023, at 10:00 am, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
