Janet A (Govert) Greger

Janet Ann (Govert) Greger, 88, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at her family home in Griffith.

Born in Griffith, Indiana, on February 11, 1937, Janet graduated from Griffith High School and went on to marry her high school sweetheart, John. Together, they built a house and raised a beautiful family. She spent her days caring for her children as well as babysitting for many others and baking extravagant wedding cakes for family and friends alike.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her son, Ted. She is survived by her children: Cheri Zoran, Bob Greger, Jane Smith (Eric), and Connie Hagan (Mark), as well as her eight grandchildren: Ted, Max, Josh, Paige, Brooke, Bo, Molly, and Pepper.

Janet was best known for her sweetness, compassion, creativity, and devotion to family and God. She spent her entire life in Griffith, where her reach has touched the lives of countless people. Her love shaped the family she built and will be felt as a ripple through the hearts of generations to come.

Funeral services will be held directly at St. Mary Church, 525 N Broad St in Griffith, on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, with visiting from 9:15 am until the time of mass at 10:00 am. Burial to follow at St. Michael Church Cemetery in Schererville.
