Janet Sue Kukuch (née Weiss), 78, passed away on September 21, 2024, in Munster, Indiana. Born on May 3, 1946, in Hammond, Indiana, she was a cherished member of the community and a devoted professional in the medical field.
Janet spent her early career life as a grade school teacher at Edison Elementary School in Hammond Indiana. She then dedicated 31 years to Ingalls Hospital as a Medical Records Coder, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to healthcare and patient support. After her retirement, she continued to give back to the community as a volunteer at the Hospice of the Calumet Area and the local Humane Society, reflecting her kind, loving, and generous spirit.
An alumna of Indiana University, Janet was not only passionate about her career but also an avid reader and traveler. With her husband, Janet explored numerous parts of the United States, always eager to learn and experience new things. She especially loved visiting her son in California.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Bruce; her children, Adam (Gina) Krieger and Allison (Paul) Kukuch; and leaves behind a legacy of warmth and generosity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Mary Weiss, and her sister, Jean Safran.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on September 28, 2024, at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, located at 2828 Highway Avenue, Highland, Indiana. Burial to follow at Historical Maplewood Cemetery, 347 Maple Lane in Crown Point, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Calumet Area, honoring Janet’s commitment to volunteerism and care.
