Jeff Blahunka

Jeff Blahunka passed away on January 7, 2025.  Born to Sophie (Szkopiec) and Steve Blahunka on July 4, 1954.  Graduated from Whiting High School in 1972.  Graduated from Purdue Calumet Construction Tech 1978.  Employed by NIPSCO in the Building Construction/Facilities Management Dept. for 37 years.  Jeff played golf at Whiting HS and Purdue Calumet.  Participated in the Hammond Times Golf Tournament for many years.  Became the golf coach at Bishop Noll High School in 1994 and then at Griffith High School in 2000.  After retirement he was a volunteer assistant golf coach at Whiting High School.

Preceded in death by his parents and nephew Shane.  Survived by children Paul (Marcie) and Laura (Nathan) Dinger, grandchildren Nora and Grayson Blahunka and Cameron Dinger.  Special friend Sharon Oldanie of Orland Park, IL and former wife Maggie Blahunka of Griffith, IN.  Also brothers Steve (Jo) of Pinehurst, Idaho and Ted (Debbie) of Hebron, IN and nieces and nephews Garrett Blahunka, Vince (Meg) Blahunka, and Arlyn (David) Eaglebarger.

Member of the Griffith Knights of Columbus Council 3631 and a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Cedar Lake, IN.  

Visitation will be at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John, IN, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M.  Funeral services will be at Holy Name Church, 11000 W. 133rd Ave. in Cedar Lake, on Wednesday, January 15, with visitation from 9:30 A.M. until the time of mass at 10:30 A.M. Burial to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery.
