John T. Vanzo, 68, passed away at home on January 15, 2024.
He was born in Highland, Indiana on November 3, 1955, to Florence and Vigle Vanzo. John was a long-time resident of Hammond, IN.
He is survived by his three sisters, Nancy Vanzo, Anita (Kurt) Suppiger and Suzanne (Don) Kobak, brother Bruce (Sallie) Vanzo, along with many nieces and nephews. John is proceeded in death by his parents, brothers Bob and Jim, and his wife, Cheryl J. Vanzo (Schita).
John made many life-long friends and was always available for a “pitch-in” get together with friends or family gatherings. He also was a die-hard Chicago Bears and Cubbies fan and was known for his extraordinary Trivia knowledge. He was fun to be around, had a great sense of humor, uncanny common sense, and was always helping others, doing the small things in life that meant big things to others.
In his later years, John made it his life mission to help his older parents for several years prior to their death and continued helping family and friends his entire life.
Rest in peace John, you were a good soul, a good son, a good brother, a good husband, a good friend, your heart has touched so many - your love will live on.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Saturday, from 1-3 pm, with a time of remembrance at 3 pm, on February 24, 2024, at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Homes, located at 2828 Highway Ave. Highland, IN. 46322. A luncheon will be held afterward.
