Joe Skubisz passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, in Munster, Indiana. He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to parents Joseph and Jennie (Biernat) Skubisz.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, MaryAnn (Sichak) Skubisz, sister-in-law Rosie (Sichak) Rodish, son Joseph (Catherine) Skubisz, daughter Mary Skubisz, and grandchildren Annabel, Maxwell, Merritt and Elizabeth. Joe was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend – and was loved by many.
Joe graduated from the University of Illinois, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. He then spent his entire career at Peoples Energy in Chicago, Illinois.
In his younger years, Joe enjoyed coaching baseball, football and softball, and left a lasting impression on many young lives. Joe also found enjoyment on the golf course, spending many years with the same golf partners. He was an avid sports fan – often cheering loudly for his beloved Illini, Bears and White Sox. Once retired, Joe found pleasure in the simple things … mainly centered around his grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 20, 2024 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a service immediately following at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church located at 2011 Clark St., Whiting, IN.
