Keith D. Hauber, 66, formerly of Crown Point, IN, passed away on October 27, 2021 at his home in Clermont, FL, surrounded by his wife and children, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on December 19, 1954 in Louisville, KY to Richard and Billie (nee Troutman) Hauber. After graduating from Ball State University, he began teaching business and accounting at Lake Central High School. He also coached girls’ basketball, volleyball, golf, and softball. His tenure as head softball coach led to 2 state championships and his induction into the Lake Central High School Hall of Fame and the Indiana Softball Hall of Fame. He retired from teaching and coaching after 35 years and fulfilled his dream of moving to Florida and working for Walt Disney World. He worked as a bus driver there for 6 years. Keith loved to travel and enjoyed visiting the National Parks. His happiest times were spent with his family.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Kay (nee Keilman) Hauber, his three children: Bridget Hauber, Richard Hauber, and Lindsey (Joe) Russell. Also surviving are two sisters: Vickie (George) Machler and Kim Hauber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eric Hauber, and nephew Nicholas Machler.
Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John, on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 2-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at the funeral home at 10 am. Burial will be private.
