Larry Donald Bluethmann, 83 of Highland, IN passed away on June 12, 2021. Larry was born in East Chicago, IN to Estelle and Charles Bluethmann. Larry spent his childhood between East Chicago, IN and Chicago, IL. He graduated from Bishop Noll High School in 1956 and Indiana University in 1960 where he earned a degree in business. He went on to serve in the Indiana National Guard and in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1960 to 1966. He married his loving wife, Joan, of more than 58 years in 1963. He started his banking career at First National Bank in East Chicago, before transitioning to Bank Calumet where he worked for nearly four decades. Larry served on the Board of the Carmelite Home for Boys and the Hammond Downtown Council as well as on the finance committee and as an usher for St. James the Less Catholic Church in Highland where he was an active parishioner
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Joan, and his six children Donald (Lai Lynn) Bluethmann, Jeffery (Sherry) Bluethmann, Mary (Mike) Launi, William (Jacquie) Bluethmann, James (Shirley) Bluethmann, and Gregory (Jessica) Bluethmann; grandchildren Cianne, Kaylee (Tyler) Roark, Drew, Cayden, James, Damonta, Dameco, Michelle & Alyssa Launi, Meghan, Brendan, Annabelle, Aiden, Audrey, Collin, Jessie, and Christen; great grandchild Hannah Jane Roark. Larry was preceded in death by three grandchildren – Trinity, Hannah and Nathan
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made on Larry’s behalf go to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or St. James Parish at 9640 Kennedy Ave, Highland, IN 46322. A private memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be scheduled at a later date.
