Our beloved Laurie Anne (McGregor) DeRolf, 71, from St. John, IN, passed away suddenly on September 2, 2024, with her loving husband, James William (Bill) DeRolf by her side. Bill and Laurie met in 1982, and fittingly, their first dates included a Halloween dance and a midnight showing of “Apocalypse Now.” They were married on Friday, July 13, 1990, and Laurie gave birth to their surviving daughter, Annie Laurie DeRolf, the following year. Laurie is survived by two beloved sons, James (Jim) and Patrick DeRolf; daughter-in-law, Kristina (Varro) DeRolf; and four beautiful granddaughters (Leila, Clara, Lily, and Ava DeRolf) whom she loved so very much.
Our loving Laurie was born on June 11, 1953, and is the daughter of the late Anne (Novak) McGregor and Edward McGregor. She grew up in Burnham, IL as one of four siblings. She will be deeply missed by her surviving sister, Jeanne McGregor, and surviving brothers, James (Jimmy) and Edward (Eddie) McGregor. Laurie will also be deeply missed by her surviving sisters-in-law, Kathy (James) McGregor and Marilyn (Edward) McGregor, whom she loved and made memories with nearly all of her life.
Laurie was also an adored sister-in-law to surviving Robert (Bobby) DeRolf Jr. and Barbara (DeRolf) Lloyd; a beloved aunt to Jim (“Little Jimmy”) McGregor, Kim McGregor, Jennifer (Lloyd) Narug, Barry Lloyd Jr., Don DeRolf, and Kristi (DeRolf) Barnett; and a fun-loving great aunt to Kroy McGregor, Hannah Daigle, Vanessa Narug, and Jacob Narug. Laurie had immeasurable love for her many cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Our sweet Laurie loved and is loved by so many others, including the Chibe family; Higgins family; Novak family; and Tamason family. Her dear friends from Century Steel/Esmark Steel Group, Phoenix Paramedic Solutions, and Prompt Ambulance Service will immortalize her through shared memories.
A shared lamentation will be on Friday, September 13, at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home in St. John, IN, from 3:00—6:00 PM, with a service to follow at 6:00 pm.
