Lisa Marie MacDonald, June 21, 1965 - September 2, 2025, of Chicago, formally Highland, IN. Peacefully gained her--surely most spectacular--angel wings to the heavens, surrounded by her family and dear friends at home.
Lisa is survived by her loving sister Julie (Troy) Tomasko, doting brother-in-law Troy, and her adoring nephew Sidney Tomasko. She is also survived by; numerous cousins; friends; and besties, Paul Grego and Greg Kokot.
She was preceded in death by her caring parents, Patricia and Glen MacDonald.
Lisa graduated from Highland High School, attended Indiana University in Bloomington, and completed her degree at De Paul University in Chicago. She had a deep love for books, history, music, religion, and her beloved cats. But her greatest joy was being an “Auntie” to Sidney. A special bond that will never be broken.
A true “City” girl, Lisa lived in Lincoln Park for over 25 years. She began her career at CNA but found her true passion with the team at the Chicago Board of Trade. Everyone Lisa met whether through college, work, church or simply crossing the street, she befriended for life, and they loved her just the same.
Best known for her radiant smile and sparkling blue eyes, Lisa’s strength in overcoming her physical struggles was perhaps her most admirable quality. There was nothing Lisa wouldn’t do or attend, regardless of what her body could endure, and she was proud to have conquered Parkinson’s disease!
Recently, a friend shared a note he had written about Lisa, in which he said, “She heals people’s souls”. All who knew Lisa would surely agree.
A memorial mass will be held at the Saint Clement Parish, 642 W. Deming Place, Chicago, IL 60614, on Friday, September 12, 2025, with visiting from 11 am until the time of service at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Humane society of Hobart or the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in Lisa's name would be appreciated.
An additional celebration of life will be held at a future date in NWI.
