Lodi Michael “Mike” Kacer age 95 of Highland IN, passed away Sat. Oct. 3 peacefully at home with his sons by his side. Mike was born on Jan. 2, 1925 in Whiting IN to his parents, Michael and Maria (Dudas) Kacer. After finishing high school, Mike enlisted in the U.S Navy, proudly serving during World War II from Jan. 1943 through Mar. 1947. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy, he began working for Brink’s Armored Car Service in 1953, in a career lasting over 40 years. In Feb. 1964 he married Janet (Moseley) and had a wonderful marriage until Janet’s passing in 2018. Mike was a proud member of Teamsters Union #142 out of Gary IN serving as union steward for many years. Mike gave us a lifetime of laughs ( whether he meant to or not) and his memory will live on in the stories that we’ll tell.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Maria; siblings Jolana Kacer, Ann Stamper Surber, Amelia Canner, and Dan Kacer.
Mike is survived by his 2 loving sons, Kevin (Jill) Kacer, and Greg (Dawn) Kacer, grandchildren Madison, Cameron and Nolan, and Hannah and Jackson, along with several loving nieces and nephews.
Mike was a long-time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Highland, serving as an elder for many years.
Graveside service will be held at Concordia Cemetery in Hammond IN at 11am on Thursday Oct. 8.
