Margaret loved life. Throughout her life, she loved the Arts: drawing and dancing. While in Grade 6 she entered the State of Indiana art contest in her age group. Her drawing, “Busy Bees," won first place on April 28,1936.
At 98, Margaret was still drawing. She loved to draw swans.
If you knew Margaret, you would know she had a passion for dancing. She was a brilliant dancer and excelled at all dances: Foxtrot, Rhumba, Cha-Cha and the Waltz. As a young woman, Margaret would take a bus from Whiting, Indiana and go to the large dance halls of the day: The Trianon and The Aragon. Margaret danced up to her early 90’s, having her dance card filled by others when she went dancing at the Willowbrook venue. She loved to don her gowns and dresses. She wore hats with such style.
Margaret enjoyed gardening. In her 40’s, she designed a beautiful rock garden. She always had growing plants at her home. Later in life, she kept pots of flowers on her balcony,
still watering and taking care of them well into her 90’s.
It would be remiss not to mention that Margaret loved thrift shopping. She enjoyed this passion, collecting costume jewelry. It seemed she valued this jewelry more than her “real” jewels.
Margaret had a great laugh and smile. People commented on her beauty and energy. She truly enjoyed speaking to people and had the "Gift of Gab."
She loved God and took Communion through her final journey week.
Margaret will be missed, celebrated and remembered by so many.
