Mark K. Bergstrom

Mark K. Bergstrom, age 61, of Dyer, IN, was born on April 21, 1962.  He passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy battle with leukemia on Friday, May 19, 2023.  Mark graduated from Merrillville High School in 1980, and from there, went on to Northwestern Business College in Lima, Ohio.  He married the love of his life, Cynthia, and the two were happily coupled for twenty years.  Mark worked at the Duke of Oil as manager of the Auto Fix division.  

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Richard K. Bergstrom.  He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia; mother Helen Bergstrom of Hobart, IN; brothers Brian (Katrina) Bergstrom of Calumet Township and James (Buffy) Bergstrom of Valparaiso, IN; step-children John (Anna) Catona of Crown Point, IN, Patrick Catona of Tennessee, Melissa (Dave) Fech of Portage, IN, and Ted (Mary) Frye of Crown Point, IN.  He is also survived by his niece, Tiffany Bergstrom; nephews Kyle and Caden Bergstrom; and four great nieces that he loved very much.

Those who knew and loved Mark remember his love for boating and Lake Michigan.  

Thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and close friends who helped Mark during his illness.  The outpouring of love and care meant so much to him.  Your kindness will not be forgotten.

An open visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1st, from 2:00PM until the time of the service at 6:00PM, at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John.  Burial to follow at Calumet Park cemetery.
