Peter Dean Rucinski of Schererville Indiana passed away on July 1, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Beverly Rae Rucinski (nee Davison); three children: Deanna Rucinski (Dave Wyrick), Gary Rucinski (Sheryl Behnke), Daniel Rucinski (Kerry Clark); grandchildren Amanda Stastny, Michael Stastny, Arden Rucinski, Decker Rucinski; brothers Ralph Rucinski (Nancy Rucinski), brother Tony Rucinski and many cousins and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by father Peter Rucinski, mother Julia Rucinski, and sister Gloria Rucinski.
He was married to his devoted wife Bev, for 62 years. They met at the age of 14, attended Roosevelt High School in East Chicago together, and married years later on September 9,1961.
While attending Roosevelt High, he was a multi-sport athlete; playing both basketball and football.
Upon his high school graduation, Peter “Dean” enlisted in the army reserves before attending Butler University, where he won a full ride scholarship to play for the Butler Bulldogs football team. Three years later, he attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry and graduated with his DDS in 1963. His passion for dentistry led him to form his dental practice of 38 years in partnership with lifelong friend, Charles Puntillo, giving countless charitable dental services to those who needed it in the process, including the nuns in the Gary diocese.
He loved to golf and was an avid fisherman all of his life, spending his later years fishing on his beloved Gravel Lake in Michigan.
A private Memorial Prayer Service will be held on July 22, 2024 at 11:30am.
