Robert “Bob” Higginson, age 80, of Lowell, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Sharon Higginson; children Deb (Brian) Mason, Roberta (Tim) Smock, and Rick (Stephanie) Higginson; grandchildren: Keith (Hannah) Ewing, Josh (Shayla) Ewing, Christian (Yuli) Higginson, Elly Higginson, Aleisha Higginson, Heather Higginson, Emma (Brett) Skorka, Kelsey Smock, and Ty Smock; 3 great grandchildren and one on the way, and his best friend and devoted dog, Sonny. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Grace Higginson and brother Jack Higginson.
Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave in St. John on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2 pm until the time of service at 6 pm.
Bob was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. He graduated from South Shore Community High School, Class of 1961, and then went on to graduate with his Juris Doctorate from Chicago Kent School of Law, Class of 1974. During his time attending Law School, he also served as a Police Officer and Sergeant with the Calumet City Police Department.
Bob married his High School Sweetheart, Sharon and settled in the Chicagoland Area. Bob and Sharon have been married for 60 years and raised three beautiful children.
Bob was a loyal member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, and one of the founding Members of Flotilla 35-09. He served in the capacity of Flotilla Commander, went on to become Captain East and was the Districts Council. Bob was especially proud of his time as Coxswain and Crew for much of his time with the Auxiliary.
Bob enjoyed Boating, Lionel Trains and spending time with his Three Children, Nine Grandchildren and Three Great-Grandchildren.
