Rose Julia Parks, nee Govert, 96, of Dyer, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024, at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Dyer.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 11, from 12 to 3 p.m. at Fagen Miller Funeral Home in Dyer. Prayer service at Fagen Miller will begin at 10 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., St. Joseph Parish, Dyer. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Rose Parks was born October 27, 1927, in Dyer, Indiana, to the late Edward and Magdalena Govert. She is preceded in death by brothers, Charles Govert Sr. and Lawrence Govert; and sisters Florence Helmer, Henrietta VanderHeyden, Mary Williams, Gertrude Smith, and Cecelia Herrman.
Rose was married to George E. Parks from 1951 until his death in 1980. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Church in Dyer and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters. Rose served for many years on the St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Sodality, and sang in the funeral choirs of both St. Joseph and St. Maria Goretti, Dyer. She was a devoted mother and homemaker and a devout Catholic.
Surviving are her loving children, Gary Parks (Linda Sargent-Parks) of Dyer, Indiana, Randy Parks of Griffith, Indiana, and Sharon Angelina of Michigan City, Indiana. Also surviving are her loving grandchildren, Michelle Parks, Melanie Parks-Linford (Patrick), Gabriel McCullough, Jorge McCullough, Samuel Thornton, and Autumn Stefankiewicz; and two great-grandchildren, Frieda and Peter Linford.
Rose is also survived by her dear sister Rita (Govert) DeCola, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
