Ruth N. Cathey

Ruth N. Cathey, age 93, of Crown Point, IN, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023.  She is survived by her daughters Jodee (Robert) Trujillo, Cindy Bertram, and Laurie (late George) Thomas; grandchildren Andrew Trujillo, Douglas (Erin) Trujillo, Grace (Jake) Black, and Yvette (Cody) Willis; and great grandson Ronan Willis.  Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Del, and special friend Mark Bertram.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1, from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John.  Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 2, beginning with a 9:00 A.M service at the funeral home, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Crown Point, IN.  

In her earlier years, Ruth was a bookkeeper for Wise Way Foods.  Among the many businesses she and Del owned were a Dairy Queen and Eagle Travel Agency.  She was a member of Lake Hills Baptist Church for 33 years.  In addition, Ruth was an especially talented artist.  She designed intricate paper dolls with beautiful outfits, and was also an excellent seamstress.
