Steven Vesich

Steven Vesich of Cedar Lake passed away peacefully with family by his side Sunday, April 30, 2017. Preceded in death by his father Jovan Vesich, mother Renate Cerven (Husband John Cerven), sister Vera Berei, step sister Donna Johnson, father-in-law George Spiro and his favorite sons English Springer Spaniels Ralphie and Barney. Survived by wife Valerie Vesich (nee Spiro) and Oskar. Just celebrating a spectacular 25 years. Siblings Mischa, Rade and Steven Cerven; Sister-in-laws Georgene (George Darnell), Teri (Alan Lucka), Lori Augustine (Joe Medwetz), Nicholas Spiro (Andrea). Many, many beloved nieces, nephews and friends from Indiana and across this great country Arizona, Texas and Las Vegas. Steve was a talented pipefitter and welder. He worked for over 20 years at Amoco Oil (aka Standard Oil/BP Oil), Inland Steel, EJ and E Railroad and Kerr McKee in Las Vegas. He loved fishing, hunting, gold prospecting and antiquing. Especially he loved the vintage automobiles. He was very meticulous in everything he did and took pride in all the projects he started and completed. He was always calm cool and collect in his mannerism of which made a perfect blend for his wife Valerie. Steve had no time for nonsense and was straightforward with his opinion. He will be remembered for his honesty and love for his wife and family. A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 321 East Joliet St, Crown Point with visiting from 9:30 am until the time of service at 10:00 am. Please in lieu of flowers send donations to St. Jude Research for Children.
