Susan Mary Grzybek (Jasek), 56, of Saint John, Indiana, passed away on January 29, 2024. She was born on March 6, 1967, in Hegewisch, Chicago, Illinois, to Audry and Mathew Jasek. Susan was a loving wife to Joe Grzybek for over 30 years and a devoted mother to her son, Joe Grzybek. She is also survived by her brother Anton Jasek and sister Mary Caliban (Jasek), and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael Jasek, and sister Kathy Gasser (Jasek).
Susan had a successful career in accounting at Gardner, Carton & Douglas in downtown Chicago. She was highly respected by her friends and colleagues.
Susan attended St. Columba for her primary education and later graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School. She further pursued her education at the University of Illinois @ Chicago.
Susan met Joe on a blind date on September 3, 1991, and they were inseparable from then on. They honeymooned in Hawaii and renewed their vows on the beach in Maui on their 30th anniversary this past June.
When their son Joe(y) was born, Susan became a stay-at-home mom. She loved every minute she spent with their son, who was her top priority above everything else. She took him to every activity and spent every moment she had with him doing everything you can think of. Susan was incredibly smart and passed that on to Joe along with her love of cooking. She was interested in every detail of his day.
Susan had an unbelievable memory of everything, down to what she was wearing on any day all the way back to when she was little.
Her family was her priority, and they did everything possible together.
Susan loved everything to do with upgrading or changing their home. There was always a project in the works, and she was an equal partner in every single step.
