Therese (Merkel) Korthauer

Therese Korthauer, age 86, January 21, 1937 - December 17, 2023 of Schererville, IN. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Therese is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Helmut, her mother Elisabeth, father Wilhelm and brother Guenter.  She is survived by her children, Iris (Jamey David) Korthauer of Prattville, AL; and Ralph (Elizabeth) Korthauer of Dayton, OH; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27th, from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at St Michael the Archangel, 1 W Wilhem St, Schererville, IN. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, December 27th at St. Michael with Rev. Martin J. Dobrzynski as celebrant. Interment to immediately follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Schererville.

Therese emigrated to the U.S. in 1959 and built a life for her family with her husband and the support of numerous others within the German community of NWI. She was an accomplished Tailoress and used her sewing skills to leave a legacy in the form of a family doily business.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Labor of Love ministry, St. Michael parish Schererville IN.
