DYER, IN - Thomas William Vadas, 83, passed away on June 13, 2024. He is survived by his daughters: Charlotte (James) Rubush and Kristin (Karl) Butcher; grandchildren: Katherine Rubush and Matthew, Adam, Grace and Lily Trinkle; and siblings: Fred Vadas, Marjorie Popplewell, Dorothy Logan, and James Vadas. He was preceded in death by his wife Sharon and daughter Laura (Steve) Trinkle.
Tom was born April 18, 1941. He graduated from Lowell High School in 1959 and attended his annual class reunion. He has been a long time member of St. Maria Goretti Church and also attended Dyer United Methodist Church and helped to cook for the homeless. He served in the Army, was a proud dairy farmer, and worked at Republic Steel in Chicago for 37 years. He enjoyed his retirement going to local restaurants, attending the Senior Club at St. Thomas Moore, 4 days a week of chair yoga, and the NWI Symphony.
Visitation will be held at FAGEN MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 8580 Wicker Ave. in St. John on Thursday June 20, 2024 from 4:00-8:00pm, with a service held from 7:00-8:00pm. A mass will be held on Friday June, 21, directly at St. Maria Goretti Church in Dyer at 10:00am. Burial to follow at Memory Lane Cemetery in Crown Point.
Because he loved food and dogs, donations can be made to his favorite charities the St. Maria Goretti Food Pantry or the Munster Humane Society.
