Virginia "Ginger" L. Prendergast

Virginia “Ginger” Prendergast, age 91 of Schererville, formerly of Highland, IN passed away on Friday February 28, 2025.   Ginger is survived by her daughter Sandra (William) Jacobs, Son Kevin (Lisa) Prendergast and sister Shirley (Andy) Valpatic. Grandchildren Abra (Dan) Luce, Sena (Kyle) Ruebel, Ashley (Sam) Bromley, Arden (Eric) Eckstein and Dr. Alexander (fiancé Amelia) Prendergast.  Great grandchildren - Eversyn, Alden, Lennon, and Gia.  Preceded in death by her husband Alfred Prendergast, Son, David Prendergast, Father, Joseph Nicolosi, Mother Lenora Rhoda, Sister - Antoinette Rhoda, and brother Leonard Rhoda.

Ginger was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri and she moved to Hammond, Indiana at the age of 14.   She went onto graduate from Hammond High where she met her husband Al. They were married in 1951 and moved to Highland, IN and raised their family.   Ginger retired from Montgomery Wards and went on to retire from Purdue Calumet as the graduate school of Education secretary.    She also volunteered at both ETC Thrift store and Munster Community Hospital.  Ginger was a long-time member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Highland.  Ginger also loved fashion, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.  She will be missed by all her family and loved ones. Visitation will be held at Fagen Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Avenue in Highland, IN on Monday March 3, 2025, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Private burial services to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
