Wayne Keilman Obituary

Wayne A. Keilman, age 75, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025 surrounded by those he loved most. He was born on February 1, 1950, and raised in Schererville, Indiana, where he learned the values of hard work, family, and loyalty that defined his life.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Vernon and Lillian (Jung) Keilman. He was second of nine children, growing up alongside five sisters and three brothers, forming lifelong bonds that shaped his strong sense of family.

For 55 wonderful years, Wayne was married to the love of his life, Linda (Nix) Keilman. Their marriage was a true partnership built on devotion and unwavering love and support. Together they raised four beautiful daughters who were the pride and joy of his life: Leonica, Alana, Courtney, and Kelsey.

Wayne’s greatest happiness came from being “Papa” to his ten grandchildren, who absolutely adored him: Cash (Leonica Parker); Lucas, Cole, and Lyla (Alana & Dan Draus); Avery, Reese, and Tatum (Courtney & Andrew Brown); and Annie, Autumn, and Aria (Kelsey & Danny Orozco). In recent years, one of his most cherished roles was playing Santa for them, creating magical memories that will live on forever in their hearts. Wayne also shared a special and meaningful bond with his sons-in-law, Andrew, Danny, Dan, and Tommy, whom he welcomed as his own.

Wayne was a proud veteran of the Marines, serving from 1971-1977. He was a dedicated and hardworking man. After 30 years, Wayne retired from Inland Steel before continuing his career for an additional 17 years at Pyro Industrial Services. He was known for his tireless work ethic, often holding two jobs while still making time to coach his daughters’ softball teams and be fully present for his family. He was a true provider in every sense of the word.

Wayne had a remarkable ability to fix and build just about anything. Most notably, he built the family home in 1973—a lasting symbol of his skill, determination, and love for his family. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, an avid golfer, a natural coach, and a man who found joy in helping others with his hands and his heart.

Traveling and spending extended vacations with his family were among Wayne’s favorite pastimes. These trips created countless treasured memories filled with laughter, stories, and togetherness—just the way he loved it.

Wayne will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, loyal brother, and steady presence to all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the family he built, the values he passed down, and the love he gave so freely.

He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
